Parameters

Note: All custom parameters shown below are optional. See {{infobox person}} for remaining parameter descriptions.

Parameter Description
allegiance The country or other power the person served. Multiple countries may be indicated together with the corresponding dates.
 • This field should not be used to indicate a particular service branch, which is better indicated by the service field below.
service The service branch (KGB, MI5, etc.) the person was a part of; this should be left blank for people who were not part of a formal armed service, or who predate the establishment of formal service branches.
serviceyears Years during which the person was active in aforementioned service.
 • A simple year–year range is written MOS:DATERANGE|using an en dash: – or {{ndash}}
rank The highest rank achieved by the person—unless a reduction in rank occurred whether by punishment, voluntary, or as part of joining another military unit or military service. The rank being awarded posthumously, may be noted.
 • In cases where the person held different ranks in different armies, multiple ranks should be specified with dates and country noted for each.
operation Any notable operations in which the person participated.
 • Italics may only be applied when WP:MILMOS#CODESTYLE|"Operation" is omitted. Use a MOS:PIPE|piped link if necessary.
codename1 The codename by which the person was known to their handlers.
 • Use to codename1 to codename9 to automatically create an unbulleted list.
codename9_label This parameter can be used to create a custom codename label if necessary, e.g. when the person is a double agent. Use sparingly.
other Profession or positions held by the person other than their spy or military service.
