Item Descriptions

Backpack

While wearing a backpack, your character increases their encumbrance threshold by 4.

Nano-healer

A nano-healer is a small, single use object roughly the size and the shape of an asthma inhaler. It contains a small, one-use dose of nano-machines that patch up and heal open wounds. Using a nano-healer requires one maneuver for a character to apply it either to themselves or another engaged character. The nano-healer is consumed in the process, and the character immediately heals 5 wounds. While a character can use multiple nano-healers, this provides diminishing returns. Each nano-healer after the first heals one wound fewer. A second nano-healer heals 4 wounds, a third heals 3, and so on. Using a sixth nano-healer in a day has no further effect. After one day, the lingering effects of the nano-healer wears off, and the character may use nano-healers again with their normal effect. See page 116 of the Genesys Core Rulebook for more information on nano-healers and healing.

Rope

Despite the wondrous technological advances of 2352, sometimes you just need a good piece of rope to help you climb up to difficult spots.

Personal Communicator

This handheld communication device allows a person to communicate with friends and allies within 100 kilometers. If the Personal Communicator can tie into a planetary or local communication network (the size many civilized planets have), they can communicate with anyone on the same planet. Many models also come with a wireless nano-interface that allows the user to hear and see communications from the device without others observing, but would still need to speak out-loud in order to communicate themselves.

Virtual Assistant System

A hand-held personal device that fits into a pocket or can be worn on a wrist of functions as a personal computer with an incorporated weak AI and a nano-interface. This means, a character in possession can talk to the computer and it answers back. The AI isn't as smart as an average person, but it's "weak" status means it can't learn and evolve, but can allow hackers to access and attempt to override security systems. Models can be purchased that will also act as a personal communicator.

In addition to functioning as a personal computer, the VAS has information stores that allow the wearer to add b to any Intellect-based checks they make.

Master PC

Hackers use Master PCs to delve deep into the various computer nets and defeat the most dangerous firewalls and programs around the colonies. These things are big, with multiple monitor screens, towers full of electronics, and countless wires. They also come with a nano-interface.

A Master PC does everything a regular personal computer does. It also adds automatic s to any checks made to hack into protected servers, and adds automatic f to any checks by opponents to hack into its own system.

Tablet PC

Personal computing devices, Tablet PCs are small, handheld computers. Models with nano-interfaces and with a build in personal communicator are available.

E-Paper

E-Paper is a flexible, paper-thing e-reader type device, with limited writing inputs, but not much else.. Often network capable, e-paper is used mostly for paperwork, reading books and newspapers, and other such activities. More expensive models can be bought that can be folded and put into a pocket without damaging the device.

Atlas Ring

A nano-interface ring that presses around the base of the skull at the Atlas Port, that can connect wired or wirelessly with an object capable of nano-interfacing. They come in a variety of styles, such as a complete ring that covers the entire neck, to a sleeker design that hook over the ears and are just big enough to cover the back of the head.

Portable Motion Sensor

This handheld device, easily stored in a pocket or pouch, detects nearby movement. The user can calibrate sensitivity to void false alarms by small vermin.

Under normal conditions, a character using the sensor automatically detects any moving creatures within medium range. Of course, it can't distinguish friends from foe or identify creatures. If creatures within range are actively hidden, your character adds bb to Vigilance or Perception checks to notice them while using the motion sensor (instead of spotting them automatically).

Space suite

Space suits are a must in the world of Starlight, allowing a user to stay alive in the vacuum of space. Spacesuits include the following: multi-directional maneuvering thrusters, a built-in light, a personal communicator, magnetic-soled boots, and an emergency repair kit that allows the user to fix any small leaks or tears as a maneuver. The space suit also allows the wearer to survive in a vacuum for up to four hours.

Cybernetics

Cybernetics can be used to replace or enhance lost limbs. Because of the requirement of man-machine interface with the cybernetic limb, the recipient of a cybernetic must also take the Nano-Machine Infusion talent prior to implantation. Though cybernetic implants can enhance a character, each stat, skill, or characteristic can only be increased by +1 due to cybernetics, no matter how many different implants a character has.

Cybernetic Arm or Leg

Besides replacing a missing limb, for an additional ⦻3000 AMES, a cybernetic arm or leg adds +1 to a character's Brawn or Agility rating (your choice when your character obtains the limb). If your character has one or more cybernetic arms, they decrease their strain threshold by one, and if they have one or more cybernetic legs, they decrease their strain threshold by one.

Atlas Implant

An Atlas is a cerebral implant that acts as a permanently installed Atlas Ring. As long as an Atlas Ring is connected to a computer with a nano-interface (either wired or wirelessly), it increases your character's Intellect rating by one. If your character has an Atlas Implant, they decrease their strain threshold by one.

Cybereyes

Cybernetic eyes provide +1 rank to your character's Perception and Vigilance, and remove b added to their checks due to darkness. If your character has one or more cybereyes, they decrease their strain threshold by one.

Implant Armor

Implant armor is added beneath your character's skin, giving them discreet protection. Implant armor provides +1 soak. If your character has implant armor, they decrease their strain threshold by one.

Cyberorgans

Cyberorgans allow individuals to survive heart disease, lung cancer, and other deadly ailments. However these devices also can be bought as implants that improve performance for an additional ⦻3000 AMES. A cyberorgan provides either +2 wound threshold (this is a special exception to the +1 increase limit, but cannot be increased past +2), +1 Resilience or +1 Athletics (you choose when you buy the organ). For each cyberorgan your charcter has, the decrease their strain threshold by one.
